Located in Peterborough, NH, the completely off grid house was built by Borrego Solar . The house incorporates a photovoltaic array, a wood boiler and energy efficient appliances to ensure that energy needs are met without a grid connection. In fact, the owner, Chris Anderson, the COO of Borrego Solar, states that there is often surplus electricity available on sunny days. The 3,000 square foot home took more than two years and approximately $510,000 to complete from start to finish and involved everything from getting a conservation easement put on the land to powering a construction site without grid electricity.
