June 8: Wilco
Wilco is an American rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1993 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure from that group. Wilco's lineup has changed frequently, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. The other current members are guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalists Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche. Wilco has released six studio albums, a live double album, and three collaborations: two with Billy Bragg, and one with The Minus 5. Wilco's music has been inspired by a wide variety of artists and styles, including Bill Fay and Television, and has in turn influenced music by The National and Cherry Ghost. The band continued in the alternative country of Uncle Tupelo on its debut album A.M. (1995), but has since introduced more experimental aspects to their music. Wilco won two Grammy Awards for their fifth studio album, 2004's A Ghost Is Born, including Best Alternative Music Album. (more...)

AT&T Looks at Bandwidth Caps
businessWell the more we go forward the more we go backwards. I predict a major revolt by users as another ISP contemplates bandwidth caps. These actions are going to cost a lot of companies money.
People simply will curb their bandwidth utilization as they will be scared of busting network limits. These companies continue to allow the United States to drop in broadband speeds as compared to the rest of the world. These companies have failed to invest enough in their network infrastructure to keep up.

Pust budet vsjo
Pust budet vsjo ( Russian: Пусть будет все) is the fourth album by Estonian rock band Ruja.
The album contains Russian language versions of Ruja's songs. It's controversial for the band, because since there was Soviet occupation and russification in Estonia at that time, singing in Russian was against the band's principles.
Must lind

Speaking in Cambridge, UK on July 22
happy mutantsOn July 22, I'm coming to Cambridge, UK to give a talk called "Life in the Information Economy" as part of the Cambridge Business Lecture series. It's a free event, but there's limited space, so RSVP now! We made a bet, some decades ago, that the information economy would be based on buying and selling (and hence restricting copying of) information. We were totally, 100 percent wrong, and now the world’s in turmoil because of it. What does a copy-native economy look like? How do everyone from barbers to musicians become richer, more fulfilled and more civilly engaged in a real information society. And what do we do about the fact that a couple of dinosauric entertainment companies are determined to screw it up? Link...
