Richard Laqueur

Richard Laqueur (March 27, 1881 - November 25, 1959) was a German historian and philologist who was born in Strasbourg.

He studied classical literature and history at the Universities of Bonn and Strasbourg, and in 1904 received his doctorate of philosophy. In 1912 he became a full professor at Strasbourg, and during the same year was appointed professor at the University of Giessen. From 1914 to 1918 he performed military duties during World War I, and in 1919 returned to Giessen, where he remained until 1930. Laqueur was rector at the university in 1922-23.

William Paston, 2nd Earl of Yarmouth (165425 December 1732), was a British peer and politician.

Born Lord Paston in 1654, he was the son of Robert Paston, 1st Earl of Yarmouth and his wife, Rebecca née Clayton. In 1671, he married the widowed Charlotte Howard née FitzRoy (1650-1684), the illegitimate daughter of Charles II and Elizabeth Killigrew and they had four surviving children:

added = October 22, 1976 refnum = 76002239 }} The Gazette Building, located at 112 West Third street in Downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, was built in 1908 for the purpose of housing the Arkansas Gazette newspaper. The Gazette was the oldest newspaper west of the Mississippi River that had been published continuously by the same name until it was purchased in 1991 by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, it's longtime rival. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 22nd, 1976. Although recognized as an architecturally significant structure, the primary significance of the Gazette Building lies in its representation of the Arkansas Gazette.

Henrik [Heinrich] Franz Alexander Baron von Eggers (December 4, 1844–? ? 1903), was a Danish professional soldier and botanist.

After studies at the gymnasium in Odense he entered the Danish army as subaltern in 1864 and fought in the Danish-German war . At the end of 1864 he joined the Imperial Mexican Volunteer Corps http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96sterreichisches_Freiwilligenkorps_in_Mexiko and fell into captivity of the Mexican Republicans at the end of the month-long siege of Oaxaca. He was freed in 1867, rejoined the Danish army as lieutenant and had himself posted in the Danish Antilles, where he served until his retirement, as captain, in 1885. In 1873 he married Mathilde Camilla Stakemann.

Ely's Stone Bridge


Ely's Stone Bridge is a bridge that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 7, 1979. The bridge was built across Deer Creek in 1893 by Ely Reuben, Sr., a farmer, and his son Ely Reuben, Jr. The bridge is a three-span arch bridge made of stone from the stream bed and quarries in Anamosa, Iowa. The foundation of the bridge was recently reinforced with concrete.
