Ironclad Games is poised to release Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity on February 9. This bundle pack for their real-time sci-fi strategy hit includes the original standalone title, as well as the 'Entrenchment' and 'Diplomacy' expansions. The soundless trailer shows off an epic in-game space battle in which spaceships, large and small, blast the hell out of each other with laser fire.

Evening Reading: Music Games Could Have Killed the Video Star
Today's Rock Band DLC update reminded me once again how abruptly music games fell off in my playing habits. Around the time that Guitar Hero 2 hit if you'd told me there would be new songs available every week, I'd probably have proclaimed that the next World of Warcraft. Neither Guitar Hero nor Rock Band has ascended to such heights, though they've certainly accumulated piles of cash between the two. While the price didn't help, the disappointing Beatles Rock Band sales were a symptom, not a result, of the stagnation in the music video game market.
Roger Daltrey Autographed Stratocaster Controllers in eBay Auction for Teenage Cancer Trust
The Who's frontman, Roger Daltrey, is teaming up with game peripheral maker Mad Catz to auction off two autographed wireless Wooden Fender Stratocaster guitar controllers to help support the Teenage Cancer Trust. Teenage Cancer Trust is a charitable UK-based organization that "funds and develops specialist teenage cancer units within hospitals which enable young people to be treated together, by an expert team, in the best possible environment for their age group." All proceeds from the auctions will go directly to Teenage Cancer Trust.
