Hiking, Eagles and Hard drives…

… What a combination huh? Well I need to make this quick because I have a new 200 gb hard drive to install, and I am going to do a complete rearrangment of the way my hard drives are set up and partitioned. We are going from 40 gb to 200, because my daughter has really started working on her graphics, my wife works a lot on her graphics, I am taking a hell of a lot more pictures, and now we are starting to mess with video and animation. What does hiking and eagles have to do with this? Well we  decided to take a walk down by the river, and on the way past we stopped by a computer shop to price a new hard drive (and a SATA card, because my motherboard doesn't have a SATA port). He told us he had a 200 gb EIDE for $118. We said we would come back later. We tried a different area of the river to walk, and found it wasn't used all that often but had some really nice areas to fish. I took about 100 photos of various things, all the while looking for the elusive bald eagle that hangs out nearby. We saw a couple of turkey vultures and a crane, but the tree branches were seriously interfering with getting any sort of clean focus. We walked a while and then turned back and took an alternate route. Missed getting a photo of 3 deer by mere seconds because I couldn't get them into my FOV. Made it back to a bridge that over looks the Shetucket River and waited a little bit to see if the Eagle would appear. Lo and behold a large bird did appear, and I got a number of pretty good shots.   The problem is ID'ing the bird. We know it isn't a Turkey Vulture, because the tail shape is all wrong. I'd say for sure it was a Bald Eagle but the markings are off. It might be an immature Bald Eagle coming into it's adult plumage. Click on either picture to see a larger version. If anyone could give me a positive ID, please leave a comment or email me at lynxsilver@gmail.com . Sorry this is such a short post, but I should be posting again tomorrow (barring a cataclysmic system failure due to me dropping an screwdriver on to the motherboard while installing the harddrive.) See you soon. Technorati Tags: Eagle , Photo , Hiking , Hike , Shetucket , River , Harddrive , Lynx , Photography
