The Rt Rev Hugo Ferdinand de Waal was the Bishop of Thetford from 1992 until 2000”Debrett's People of Today 1992” (London, Debrett's) ISBN 1870520092). He was born on 16 March 1935 and educated at Tonbridge School and Pembroke College, Cambridge Who's Who 1992 “(London, A & C Black ISBN 0713635142) before embarking on an ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St Martin in the Bull Ring[ http://www.bullring.org/ Church eb site] after which he was Chaplain at his old college then Rector of Dry Drayton. In retirement he continued to serve the Church as an Assistant Bishop within the Diocese of Europe until his death on 6 January 2007 Independent obituary.
