József Szakovics. The tomb of Szakovics in Alsószölnök. József Szakovics Slovene Jožef Sakovič, German Joseph Sakowitsch (ar. 2 February, 187422 September, 1930) slovenian roman catholic priest. Szakovics was attend of the hungarian slovenian language (the wends dialect), and the slovenian identity.

Born in Vadarci (Prekmurje). His parents Mátyás Szakovics and Ilona Mácsek. Studied in Szombathely, was consecrate in 2 July, 1899. In Pápóc was assistant, chaplain Zalaegerszeg. In 1900 chaplain in Rechnitz, up 1901 in Črenšovci, up July, 1902 in Tótszentmárton, up 1905 in Tišina, up 1906 Weiden bei Rechnitz. In 1906 parish clerk in Beltinci, in 1909 in Cankova. In 1909-1913 clerk in Alsószölnök, near Szentgotthárd, where lived Germans, Slovenes and Hungarians. In 1913-1917 clerk in Turnišče, after priest up 1928. Dead in Alsószölnök.

In 1904 was rework the prayer-book of Miklós Küzmics (1780). This book live to five reprints. In our days in the Vendvidék, and Prekmurje invariably use the slovenian familys. Szakovics boost the prekmurian catholicism, togheter the identity and language. His excellence is unfading. Whereas was speak hungarian, prekmurian, croatian and german langugues, and prominent orator.
