Kim Jong Illustrated
Kim Jong Illustrated is an American rock/hiphop group formed in 2009. The Delaware-based band is lead by Bobby Watson, an illegitimate son of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il. Watson is accompanied by a hard-drinking lyricist who some refer to as JPlay. Kim Jong Illustrated is best known for its 2009 buzz hit "Money, Sex, Drugs". Although Kim Jong Illustrated struggled to gain attention for the better part of 3 years, the band's big break came in May 2009 when MTV jockey Carson Daly commented that "Money, Sex, Drugs" is the best song to come out since The Beatles' hit "She Loves You". This ignited an inferno of praise from other critics such as Simon Cowell, Matt Pinfield, and Paula Abdul. Even Watson's estranged father, Kim Jong Il himself, reportedly quipped, "That bastard Watson kid might not take after me, but damn can he write a great pop song!" Pitchfork media gave the band's album "Once It Becomes Night" an impressive rating of 8.5. In 2009 Kim Jong Illustrated will tour North America, Europe, South America, Japan, and of course North Korea.
