Midweek update…
Actually I had wanted to write this yesterday. I even had the title and the first paragraph typed when I was called away to take care of something, and the browser froze when I got back. That'll teach me not to use the 'Save and Continue Editing' function that Wordpress has so kindly provided me. I was going to post about a particular experience of mine at 18 Mile Creek when I was younger, but I figure I should post about more current events before I go meandering in my past recollections.A number of thing have popped up, and I wanted to tie up some loose ends that have been flapping in the wind so to speak. First let me talk about that abandoned property . I have basically given up on it. The last time we talked with 'Grizzly Adams', he had stated that a bunch of people had tried contacting the owners about purchasing the property. They generally never get a response. Its unfortunate, because the place is beautiful, and your nearest neighbor is about 1/2 mile away, who could ask for more? Since we moved into the new duplex, we've basically given up on the abandoned property. I don't even want to think about moving for a good long time. Now for the Tattoo update. I've had more work done to my tattoo, and my wife had her next one started. As you can see in this first photo, I've had a number of the stripes colored in on my Tiger Strip tattoo. I go for hour (basically hour and a half) visits and see how much Dawn can get done in that time. She's been way cool through the entire process, and is a lot of fun to get tattoo'ed by. Big 'D' always seems to be in at the same time, and he's freaking hilarious. Between the two of them going back and forth, the time just flies getting tattooed. You may notice a small open spot in one of the stripes, this unfortunately is an uncolored mole. Every tattooist I have ever encountered all agree that you should never tattoo over a mole. The suckers start bleeding and take forever to stop, plus there is the danger of the thing going cancerous, so most tattooist just tattoo around them. Mine just had to be very light colored so to go un noticed until it was time to fill in the stripe. I guess I'll just have to touch it up with a black magic maker This next photo is my wife's old tattoo on her shoulder. It was done with a homemade tattoo gun using a guitar string needle. For an amateur tattoo, it was really well done. Over the years it has faded and bled out, plus my wife doesn't really subscribe to that way of life anymore. She wants to put the past in the past. She had a few designs she want to use to cover it up, but she couldn't get it quite right on paper. She tried over and over again, and while I thought a number of the designs were really good, she didn't think they were quite right. When I went for my first stripe fill in session, she asked Dawn if she could design something to cover this old tattoo up. Dawn took a number of notes, a couple of designs, and said when we came back she would have something for my wife to look at. A couple weeks later, when we came back for our appointment, My wife was pleasantly suprised. The design Dawn came up with was awesome. It features a little frog sitting on a leaf, with two flowers and feminine tribal design. You can see how it will cover the old tattoo. My wife got the outline done and she's still working on what colors the two flowers are going to be. The frog's color and the leaf's color are already picked out. The frog is going to be a dark blue and leaf a dark green. Either way its going to look awesome when its done. I've been listening to more podcasts lately, and to tell the truth, they fill my entire work day. There are three I want to talk about today. Check them out and see if you like them. The first is Freakin' Funny Music . This podcast is basically an amateur Dr. Demento. Jake Waters runs his 'silly little showl out of Utah each week, giving us about 5 funny songs each episode. Some of the songs are hilarious, some of them are ok, but the show is always good. If you like to laugh, then I would recommend checking him out. Next is Hometown Tales . This podcast (and vidcast if you have a MP3 player that can handle video) is about collecting strange and bizzare tales around the country (or the world for that matter). These are the tale you grow up hearing around your town. Its one of the more interesting podcasts in my opinion. When I was growing up in Hamburg, New York, I would dive into the history of the town in the local library looking for just such tales. Now I can have them served up to my on my iPod, making my work day fly by. If your into fireside stories and the like, give these guys a listen to (or a gander at, if your into vidcasts) Finally is the Penn Jillette Show . When I first downloaded this show, I must have been having a bad day, because I wasn't happy with it. That sort of thing happens, I was in a mood or something, and I didn't like it. My wife on the other hand loved the show. She kept on me to give it another try, and eventually I did. I say eventually, because I get hardheaded when I decide I don't like something, and it took a couple of weeks before I tried it again. I dropped 4 episodes onto my iPod and listened to them at work, and then cursed myself for not adding a couple more. It turns out o be a great show, and Penn has intelligent conversations with any number of people. Its funny as hell also. So I have to apologize to Mr. Jillette for being hasty and ditching his show early, its really nice to have show that will make you think while making you laugh your ass off. Anything else? Lets see… Ah yes, my wife has launched her Deviant Art page, you can check it out at DeviantART:Fiberglasswolf . She has taken a liking to (and seems to have talent in the direction of) photography. She is using my old Concord Eye-Q 3042AF, which is not a bad little camera, I've taken a number of good pics with it. But I am sure she is going to want to upgrade to something a little better. Maybe I'll be able to buy her a nice one for christmas. Anyway go check out her photos. There may not be many at the moment, but summer is coming, and you can be sure that the site will be updated often so check back! Wow its after 9:00 pm, and I need to get to bed (gotta get up early). Thanks for taking the time to read through this little(?) update, and maybe in the next couple days I'll post about the original 18 Mile Creek memory I had in mind. I'll give you a little preview; a couple of times I had been chased through those woods around 18 Mile Creek by some 'thing' I couldn't explain. Hopefully I'll have the time to get more indepth. For all of you who are my regular readers, I wish I could get more posts out, but thanks for sticking with me. Feel free to leave me a comment or email me at lynxsilver@gmail.com , and there is always my woefully under-used Frappr Map , which only seems to collect spam (which is an upcoming rant of mine, let me tell you).
