The Black Eyed Peas
Dj Motiv8 came across William Adams at an early age, at the time (Will 1X) was taken under Motiv8's wing to be taught the ways of music production, studio recording, and overall stage presence. Along with Will there were three other MC's: Allen Pineda, Dante Santiago, and Mookie Mook(Burning Star). The Four became known as The Atban Klann and signed to easy E's "Ruthless Records" in 1992. The group recorded an album in 1994 entitled Grass Roots, which was supposed to be released on "Ruthless Records" but wasn't do to the death of Eazy E.
After the tragedy, the group changed it up adding Jaime Gomez as Dante Santiago left to pursue a solo career. The Group would now become the "Black Eyed Peas". With Will.i.am (Will Adams), apl.de.ap (Allan Pineda), and Taboo (Jaime Gomez) being the MC's, and Motiv8 being the groups official Dj. The Black Eyed Peas signed to Interscope Records in 1998 with their debut album Behind the Front. The album won the Black Eyed Peas (and their accompanying live band, the Bucky Jonson’s) critical acclaim. It featured the single "Joints & Jams", which was a part of the soundtrack to the Academy Award-nominated film Bulworth. In 2000 the group released "Bridging The Gap" which featured Macy Gray on the hit single "Request Line". In 2003, Stacy Ferguson(Fergie) replaced the groups’ back-up singer, Kim Hill and became a solid member of the group leading them into their third album, "Elephunk".
The Universal Scientist
Aside from touring and projects with B.E.P., Motiv8 has again given birth to a new innovative group called the "Universal Scientist". A project that has been in works since early 2000 and has finally transformed into the group that Motiv8 has envisioned from the beginning. Along with Motiv8 is Rhett Camfield a.k.a. Rh Factor, and Christie Allen a.k.a. Kameil-lion. Motiv8 came across Rhett in a similar fashion as Will.i.am. Through a mutual friend they met at the Drumz Clothing loft in 2003 to discuss sponsorship and involvement in the Universal Scientist project. Motiv8 saw the already established Drum and Bass dj as an asset to the group. Being 18 at the time, Rhett was young, eager, and willing to follow Motiv8's mentoring and become a student to his industry known signature style: "Electro-organic Sound". Kameil was discovered through a friend of the Black Eyed Peas and was instantly approached by Motiv8 to join the group. Having skills as a VJ (Video dj) and a voice was what the group needed aside from the Djing and beat production. The Universal Scientist are in the studio working on their album which is a combination of electronic music fused with jazz and hip hop influences. Between the live performance and visual stimuli, the Scientist are moving along with the momentum needed to take it world-wide.
Traveling around the world has put Motiv8 on a self proclaimed "mission to spread hip-hop worldwide". Recently traveling to countries such as: London, Germany, Dubai, Portugal, and China, Motiv8 is pursuing that mission and doing effectively. Motiv8 has become a frequent celebrity guest of honor in Shanghai China. On his third trip there this year, Motiv8 is laying foundation for the upcoming Black Eyed Peas tour following the release of their upcoming 2009 album The E.N.D (The Energy Never Dies). Furthermore, Dj Motiv8 has been featured on many projects for artist such as: Madonna, Bel Biv Devoe, Kid from Kid n Play, Billy Idol, N-sync, Shifty of Crazy Town, and Kylie Monogue to name a few. Motiv8 is teamed up with artist from both L.A. and The Bay as part of the Hyphy project C.H.P. (California Hyphy Patrol).
