Commercial photographers of all types (wedding >, fashion >, food > etc.) may require the help of a trained photographer who isn't quite ready to go out on his/her own. These can find work as a photography assistant. Assistant duties range from sweeping floors and cleaning bathrooms in a studio, to lighting an image or performing digital support. Photography assistance is a great way to learn about the photo business, to learn about photography itself and to meet potential clients. Almost every current commercial photographer began that life as a photo assistant.
