Promotion City
I have tried numerous times to start a wikipedia article about Promotion City. The first 2 times it was removed via Speedy Deletion due to "G11:Blatant advertising" - this I understand, and have since made a concious effort to improve the content of the article to conform to wikipedia criteria. My last attempt of publishing a Promotion City article was removed due to: "A7 (web): Web content which doesn't indicate its importance or significance)"... G7 states that I do not explicitly have to prove that Promotion City is notable, i just need to give a reasonable indication of why it might be notable. I am not quite sure how to do this, however I would like to take this oppertunity to mention that Promotion City was one of the first websites of its kind to provide regular and up-to-date information about clubs and events to a targeted clientelle in the UK. If this is a reasonable reason for proving that Promotion City is notable in an encyclopedia, please let me know, otherwise I would appriciate it if I could be offered some advice on what sort of reason I may be able to provide instead, and most importantly, where would I put this information (in the artcle? or as a side-note message to any member of the admin team). I appriciate your time reading this. Thanks. Neil-One ( talk) 00:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Promotion City is a website enriched with information for club socialists (aka Clubbers/Ravers). The website offers the essentials in marketing and promoting concerts, festivals, raves, nightclubs or other live events. Promotion City is the media used by Promoters to expose their event promotions to a target audience using viral marketing solutions.
History
Founders of PromotionCity.co.uk, ‘Neil-One’ and ‘Shaun-City’ noticed that a massive lack of information was being provided to the public with regards to clubbing. It was often a chore to find out what events were taking place and where, let alone to know the entrance fee, who was playing on the night and what time it finished etc. It was apparent that this information was usually supplied in the medium of handouts and flyers, but who honestly goes home with 30+ flyers, keeps them, and checks them regularly? PromotionCity.co.uk was developed with this in mind and to make life for the club socialist a lot simpler.
Present
Eight years down the line, Promotion City have seen other websites and magazines come and go in an attempt to produce gig guides and similar sites. The secret to Promotion City’s success is their consistency. It is without fail, a fact that when logging onto Promotion City, a healthy list of upcoming events is available for the public to browse through. And in addition, the website offers other attractive perks such as an exhaustive clubbers gallery with well over 20,000 pictures from over 350 different events, taken in the last two years alone. Other interests include event competitions, reviews, interviews with UK & US artists and entertainment news. The list goes on. However Promotion City, as a one-stop solution, provide services and information for DJ’s, club owners and promoters, both experienced and new to the game: Find the ideal DJ from a nearby area, or get maximum exposure of your event by listing it in their weekly e-mailout’s which are delivered directly to their ever growing database of members who have registered their interests.
Alliances
Recently making alliances with Touch Magazine’s After Dark reviews section, 101 Distribution Magazine, Sony and BMG Street Teams to name a few, Promotion City have a very bright future ahead, whereby 12,000 daily visitors will appreciate the new additions and upgrades that are continuing to take place as this organisation matures.

As the increasingly popular internet technology takes the world by storm, electronic/internet advertising are the key methods of delivery to large audiences worldwide. Promotion City are at the root of a new era. A one-stop solution which will give promoters the opportunity to advertise clubs, wine bars, restaurants and services such as a DJ's or MC's directly to a focused audience. Urban Music Awards The UMA’s include many big artists such as Craig David, Roll Deep, Sway and Lethal B etc. who were all up for awards in different categories, ranging from “Best R & B Act” to “Best Producer” to “Best Website”, of which Promotion City won having received the most public votes in their category, standing out from “Urban World”, “Time 2 Rave” and “London By Design”. The UMA’s are a fast growing awards ceremony in its 5th year and have been gaining a lot of media attention over the last few years, proving to be as popular as, and rival the more widely known MOBO awards. The “Best Website” award is a new category that was added along with “Best Entrepreneur” in 2005 – this made the category for “Best Website” a lot more interesting, resulting in a high volume of web users voting in this section.
Musik 4 You Awards Promotion City was short listed in October 2006 at a new award ceremony based in Watford. The M4U Awards featured over 20 categories whereby nominations were exposed on the actual night of the ceremony. A list of approximately 50 ‘recognised’ contenders were chosen in each category. The awards, although new, attracted thousands of people from London and surrounding towns and cities. Promotion City were once again nominated for the award entitled “Best Website” of which 50 other website were also short listed in this category. As a result of this evening Promotion City received a 5th place commendation.
