Ice hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics - Women's qualification


Eight teams will qualify for the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The top six teams in the IIHF World Ranking after the 2008 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships will receive automatic berths into the Ice Hockey event. Teams ranked 7th through 18th will have an opportunity to qualify for the event. Teams ranked 13th through 18th will play in a first qualification round in September of 2008, where the top two teams from the round advance to the second qualification round. Teams ranked 7th through 12th will join the two top teams from the first qualifying round to play in a second qualifying round in November, 2008. The top two teams from the second qualifying round will advance to the Olympic Ice Hockey Tournament. Switzerland and Russia qualify

Pre-qualifier tournament

By being ranked 13 trough 18 in the final 2008 IIHF World Rankings, the following teams qualify for the pre-qualification tournament. There will be two winners from these tournaments that advance to the qualification tournament. 2008 Ranking

  • DEN

Qualification tournament

By being ranked 7 trough 12 in the final 2008 IIHF World Rankings, the following teams qualify for the qualification tournament. There will be two winners from these tournaments that advance to the Olympic tournament. 2008 Ranking
