Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) is a global venture capital firm, located in Silicon Valley. The firm currently manages more than $2.5 billion in venture capital and has funded over 400 companies since inception. NVP has direct and cross-border investments in the U.S., India, Israel and China.
The firm was founded in 1961 and has funded such market leaders as Actel Corporation, Cerent (acquired by Cisco Systems), Documentum, Forte Software (acquired by Sun Microsystems), PeopleSoft and Tivoli Systems(acquired by IBM).
The firm’s U.S. investment team includes Promod Haque, George J. Still Jr., Robert Abbott, Jeffrey Crowe, Vab Goel, Matthew Howard, Jim Lussier, Venkat Mohan, Joshua Goldman, Timothy Chang and Sergio Monsalve. NVP India's investment team includes Promod Haque, Niren Shah and Mohan Kumar. NVP’s investment team has deep operational experience and actively supports its companies through all phases of growth – from start-up through IPO or acquisition.
Managing Partner Promod Haque has been ranked as a top dealmaker on the annual Forbes Midas List for the past eight years. In 2004, Forbes named him as the 1 venture capitalist worldwide based on performance over the last decade. In 2006, Promod was presented with a Global Leadership award from NASSCOM.
Recent investments and transactions include Airespace (acquired by Cisco), KACE, Omneon, Open-Silicon (acquired by UIB), Persistent Systems, Rackspace, SideStep (acquired by Kayak), Spinnaker (acquired by Network Appliance), Winphoria (acquired by Motorola) and Yipes (acquired by Reliance/Flag Telecom).
