Ljudevit Jurak

Ljudevit Jurak (October 6, 1881 in Zalug near Hum na Sutli - June 9, 1945 in Zagreb) was a Croatian professor of pathology who was executed by the Yugoslav government for his research into the Vinnytsia massacre.

Jurak studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck where he graduated in 1910. In 1914 Jurak came to Zagreb where he led the Department of Pathology at the Sisters of Charity Hospital, a post he held until his death. Jurak collaborated on Mate Ujević's Croatian Encyclopedia.

Leslie Newburn Rainey (January 10, 1881 - August 27, 1962) was an Australian sportsman who played first-class cricket for Victoria and Australian rules football with Essendon and Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

After managing only five appearances for Essendon during his time at the club in 1899 and 1900, Rainey crossed to Melbourne where he had more success. He played a full season in 1902, including Melbourne's Semi Final loss to his old club, and kicked 17 goals. Rainey finished his football career with 23 VFL games and 20 goals.

Richard Laqueur (March 27, 1881 - November 25, 1959) was a German historian and philologist who was born in Strasbourg.

He studied classical literature and history at the Universities of Bonn and Strasbourg, and in 1904 received his doctorate of philosophy. In 1912 he became a full professor at Strasbourg, and during the same year was appointed professor at the University of Giessen. From 1914 to 1918 he performed military duties during World War I, and in 1919 returned to Giessen, where he remained until 1930. Laqueur was rector at the university in 1922-23.

Walter Frederick Moser (February 27, 1881 - December 10, 1946) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Philadelphia Athletics during the 1906 season and with the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Browns in 1911. Listed at 5' 9", 170 lb., Moser batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Concord, North Carolina.

In a two-season career, Moser posted a 0-7 record with 4.58 ERA in 14 appearances, including nine starts, 30 strikeouts, 30 walk, 97 hits allowed, and 70⅔ innings of work.

William Robert Orthwein (October 16, 1881October 2, 1955) was an American freestyle, backstroke swimmer and water polo player who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics.

Israel Amter (March 26, 1881-1954) was on official and founding member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).

He was born on March 26, 1881 in Denver, Colorado to Jewish immigrants. In 1901, he became a member of the Socialist Party of America (SPA) until he moved to Germany in 1903. While in Germany he edited the German Export Review and became a member of the Social Democratic Party. He also studied music at the Leipzig Conservatory where in 1912 he would create a never performed opera called Winona about a romance between a United States Army Officer and a Native American woman known as Winona.
