Benjamin Franklin Potts (January 29, 1836 – June 17, 1887) was a lawyer, politician, and soldier from the state of Ohio who served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War, as well as a postbellum Governor of the Montana Territory from 1870 to 1883. He commanded a brigade of infantry in the Western Theater in some of the war's most important campaigns and repeatedly received commendations for gallantry and tactical judgement in combat.Eicher, p. 437.Reid, pp. 898-99.

Andreas D. Miaoulis (Greek: Ανδρέας Δ. Μιαούλης, 1819 - 1887) was a Greek politician. He was the son of Dimitrios Miaoulos and relative of the navy leader during the Greek War of Independence Andreas Miaoulis from the historic Hydrian family of Miaoulis.

William S. Gregory (August 4, 1825 - August 11, 1887) was the first mayor of Kansas City, Missouri in 1853.

When Kansas City was incorporated on March 18, 1853, it had an area 0.98 square miles and a population of 2,500. 63 votes were cast for mayor and Gregory defeated Dr. Benoist Troost by nine votes.
