Rudolf Pekárek (1900-1974 >) was a Czech-Australian conductor.

In 1934 he founded the Prague Symphony Orchestra, giving work to many unemployed musicians. It was known as the FOK Orchestra (Film – Opera – Konzert), or the FOK Salon Orchestra or sometimes Pekarek's Salon Orchestra. At the beginning the ensemble made its living by intensive recording of music for films, and only later changed its focus to presenting the standard repertoire in concert. Lydia Ruslanova (sometimes spelt Lidia or Lidiia) (October 27, 1900 – September 21, 1973) was a Russian folk singer.

Early life

She was born in Saratov, into a peasant family, and was christened "Praskov'ia Leikina". Her parents both died by the time she was five—her father was killed in the war with Japan and her mother died soon after—so she spent most of her childhood in an orphanage.MacFadyen, pp.201-202 She began singing when she joined the local parish children's choir, and she soon became a soloist.

Walter Dedaker Shaner [Skinny] (May 24, 1900 - November 13, 1992) was a reserve outfielder in Major League Baseball, playing mainly at left field for three different teams between the 1923 and 1929 seasons. Listed at 6' 2", 195 lb., Shaner batted and threw right-handed. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.

A native of Lynchburg, Virginia, Shaner spent 13 years in baseball (1920-1932), including parts of four major league seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1923), Boston Red Sox (1926-1927) and Cincinnati Reds (1929). His most productive season came in 1927 for the Red Sox, when he hit a .273 batting average in a career-high 122 games.

From 1922 to 1927, he earned 12 caps with the Royal Yugoslav national team. He played with the team at the 1924 Summer Olympics.
