Aarno Henrik Maliniemi (surname until 1930 Malin), born 1892 - died 1972, was a Finnish historian, professor in church history at Helsinki University 1945-1960.

Maliniemi had large knowledge in Medieval church. He has also studied early Finnish litterature, and he has been editor for publications on sources and bibliographies.

Emil Otto Hoppé (1878 – 1972) was a portrait, travel, and landscape photographer. A renowned photographer of his day, Hoppé’s body of photographic work sat in obscurity until well after his death; in 1952, at an age of 74, Hoppé sold his forty-years of work to a picture library in London where it was filed by subject among millions of other “stock” pictures, making the photographs inaccessible by author and, therefore, hidden from the public. Throughout his life Hoppé continued to produce and exhibit work, travel and publish books, and receive honors and awards, including, in the year of his death, at age 94, the Royal Photographic Society Honorary Fellowship. In 1994 Hoppé's photographic work, along with his family's collection of biographical documents and letters, was organized and conserved by the E.O. Hoppé Estate.

Hiraldo (Sablon) "Chico" Ruiz (December 5, 1938 in Santo Domingo, Cuba - February 9, 1972 in San Diego, California), was a professional baseball player who played infielder in the Major Leagues from 1964-1971. He would play for the Cincinnati Reds and California Angels.

Harvey Swados (1920-1972) was born in Buffalo, New York, the son of a doctor. A graduate of the University of Michigan. Swados was a four year veteran of the Merchant Marine during World War II and published his first novel in 1955. Swados's 1959 essay for Esquire, "Why Resign from the Human Race?," has often been said to have inspired the formation of the Peace Corps.

Herbert Oxley Hopkins (6 July 1895–23 February 1972) was an Australian-born English cricketer who played 85 first-class matches between the wars. The bulk of these games were for Worcestershire and Oxford University, though he also appeared once for Harlequins.
