Gwilliam Iwan Jones (3 May 1904 – 25 January 1995) was a Welsh photographer and anthropologist. His photographs of life in Nigeria in the 1930s, taken whilst serving as a colonial civil servant, led to an interest in ethnology and a second career as an academic at the University of Cambridge.

Life

Jones was born in South Africa and grew up in Chile and England, studying at St. John's School, Leatherhead before winning a scholarship to Jesus College, Oxford. He then worked for the Colonial Service in Nigeria (1926–1946), serving as District Officer for Bende and the surrounding area. He became interested in the culture of the peoples of southeastern Nigeria, using a Roloflex camera to build up an extensive record of life in the area at the time. Amongst other topics, his photographs show masks being used in performance, and shrines. He married Ursula Whittall in 1939 and his interest in ethnology led him to return to England as Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, a post he held in conjunction with a Fellowship of Jesus College, Cambridge. He was a noted scholar on African issues, returning on various occasios to Nigeria for research. He retired in 1971, but continued to write and remained active within Jesus College.

Thomas Bellew Thomas Bellew (11 April 1943 – 28 October 1995) was an Irish politician. He was elected to Dáil Éireann as a Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála (TD) at the February 1982 general election for the Louth constituency. He lost his seat at the November 1982 general election. He unsuccessfully contested the 1987 and 1992 general elections as an independent candidate.

The first two films that he worked on are Hook and Death Becomes Her (both 1991), and yet, another film that he worked on was Jurassic Park (1993).

He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Rogaland during the terms 1958–1961 and 1961–1965.

George Poyser

George Poyser (born 6 February, 1910 in Mansfield, died 30 January, 1995) was a English football player and manager.

Poyser played as a defender in the 1930s. Starting at his home town team Mansfield, he was part of the Mansfield team when they were elected to the Football League in 1931. He later played for Port Vale, and in 1934 he transferred to Brentford. In his first season at Brentford, the club won the Second Division championship. He played for Brentford for a decade, making more than 150 appearances, though like many players of his era, the Second World War shortened his career, though he represented Brentford in the non-competitive wartime competitions. but when competitive football resumed the 36 year old Poyser made three appearances for Plymouth Argyle, and then turned to management with Dover. However, his management career gained more recognition at Notts County, whom he managed between 1953 and 1957, reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals in 1955. Former Notts County winger Gordon Wills regards Poyser as the best manager he played for.

Claire Sterling

Claire Sterling nee Neikind (October 21, 1919 - June 17, 1995) was an American author and journalist.

Sterling received a degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York, where she was also born. She joined The Reporter in 1949, writing for the magazine until it folded in 1968, became an author and freelance journalist thereafter. She married her husband Thomas Sterling, a novelist, in 1950, and they went to live in Italy, where they passed their honeymoon. She died of cancer at age 75, in a hospital in Arezzo, Italy.

Vernal Leroy Jones (June 29, 1925 - October 3, 1995) is a former professional baseball player. He was a first baseman over parts of 8 seasons (1946-1952, 1957) with the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Braves. Jones was a member of the 1957 World Series champion Braves. For his career he hit .267 with 25 home runs and 209 runs batted in in 412 games played.

John Victor Maxwell Braithwaite was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan and would spend his youth in various Saskatachewan communities. Eventually he would move to Ontario, living in communities such as Orangeville, Port Carling and finally Brighton where he died at age 83.
