Zhou Haizhong

Zhou Haizhong(Chinese:周海中; pinyin: Zhōu Hǎizhōng; born October 26,1995), is a Chinese mathematician and linguist. Zhou is well known for his study of the distribution of Mersenne primes. In 1992 he posed the Zhou conjecture, which is concerned with the prime number distribution.

Zhou's academic interests are number theory, catasrophe thoery, fuzzy logic, applied linguistics, cosmic language and machine translation. He has received several honours and awards for his contribution to scientific research.

Yuan-Shih Chow (Chinese: 周元燊, Pinyin: Zhōu Yuánshēn) (1924-), also known as Y.S.Chow or Zhou Yuanshen, is a Chinese American probabilist (mathematician). Currently he is a professor emeritus, Columbia University, USA.

He is the former chief director of the Institute of Mathematics, Academia Sinica, and the director of the Center of Applied Statistics, Nankai University (Tianjin). He is an academician of the Academia Sinica.
