The Alexa Debate Continues

advertising

Ever time I see someone quote Alexa numbers it makes me sick to my stomach. The reason is that their numbers are far from accurate.

Last week I had a client email me looking to advertise on one of my properties. He sent me a advertising figure that I quite literally laughed at. When I replied that the rate was about 15 times lower than what we normally charged he replied with a Alexa chart.

Arrogance is saying Bloggers don't Deserve Ad Revenue

advertising

I read a blog post by Louis Gray this morning that said that “Most Bloggers Don’t Deserve Any Ad Revenue” honestly I was pretty surprised that he would advance that type of a discussion.

Junkmail for Kids?

advertising

Today in the mail my 14 year old daughter received a mailing from National American Miss inviting her to "audition" for their pageant. My daughter is pretty, and I suppose getting a piece of mail like this is flattering.

Podtrac releases Podcast Ad Effectiveness Study

advertising

Being Geek News Central was one of the shows mentioned in the Podcast Advertising study done by Podtrac. I thought it would be a good idea to point Podtrac’s press release out.

This study confirms many of the things we have been seeing at RawVoice and once again validates many of the things I have been telling media buyers for the past three years.

Some days you just want to scream!!!

advertising

Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like you are dragging a 25 Ton truck up a hill? Or feel like you are beating your head against the wall.

This morning I kinda feel that way because I continue to be amazed by,,,, how should I word it without insulting someone, I guess I’ll say it this way, the narrow mindness and old school mentality today is a trait companies cannot afford. Nor should the media companies that they employ.

Online video finding it hard to get advertisers

advertising

AP reports about the slow uptake of sponsors to video sharing sites like You-Tube. According to the managers (from the video sharing sites) that are quoted in the article the issue is the comfort level of the marketers. In my opinion the marketers are right to be hesitant.

FeedBurner RSS Advertising Pay looks Pretty Sad!

advertising

Michael Arrington at TechCrunch has posted an airbrushed copy of his monthly check he gets from FeedBurner for putting advertising inside his RSS feed. The airbrush job is not that good and speculation the check is about $6400.00. While most bloggers would like a check that size. I think the real ground truth is this.

If you have 25 million views and only made $5k well....

advertising

If you have 25 million views and only made $5k, well all I can say is you have just lost a huge amount of revenue and should call me.

Perez Hilton says he had 25 million views on YouTube over the past three months and only made $5,000. To think he had 25 million views and only made $5k rocks me to the core. Whoever is managing his ad deals needs to be fired.
