He had previously played for the Michigan Wolverines football team where in the 1997 NCAA Division I-A football season, his final year at Michigan, they won a National Championship. Chris attended Cooley High School in Detroit. Floyd had modest professional totals of 33 yards rushing on 14 carries and 43 yards receiving on 4 receptions. However, in four years at Michigan he totaled 623 yards rushing on 148 carries and added 125 yards receiving on 14 receptions. As a fullback he did not carry the ball frequently and only totaled more than 10 carries in two ball games.
