How You Know You Made It
appleDo you know how you can tell when your product has “made it” It is when other products that are similar are called your products name. For instance when most people ask for a tissue they are just as likely to say “Kleenex” as anything else. Of course when people are talking about an mp3 player they will call it an ipod even if it were made by Creative or Sansa. I am guilty of this as well and I even have a bias against ipods because I don’t like the way they lock you into just their services. I make an effort not to call my Zen an ipod but I do it about 60% of the time then have to correct myself. I think I do it because subconsciously I know the person to whom I am speaking will likely not understand what a Zen is but will know what an ipod is most of the time. It must really be a tremendous help to your marketing team when the product you want to sell is promoted every second of everyday by so many people using them and using the product name even when it does not apply.
Apple's IPhone 3G Firmware Update Bombs
appleJagsLive writes "After lots of complaints about iPhone 3G connection issues, Apple released a firmware update Monday with hopes it would fix the issues. But early reports suggest it didn't work as planned. Complaints have included dropped calls, abrupt network switches, poor reception, and service interruptions. Apple declined to offer details about its iPhone 2.0.1 update, other than saying it included 'bug fixes.' However, comments in Apple's support forum say plenty about the latest attempt to rectify poor user experiences. In fact, the update seems to be causing new issues, apparently interfering with the GPS function, among others."
What's the Problem With iPhone 3G Reception?
appleCWmike writes "Apple's iPhone 3G was just a couple of days old when reports began trickling onto the company's support forum from dissatisfied customers complaining about poor reception. Although no one outside of Apple and AT&T — and maybe a chipmaker or two — really knows, that has not kept others from speculating, or in a few cases, making claims based on unnamed sources. What's going on? We may not have all the answers, but we do have questions. Gregg Keizer put together everything we know in a FAQ on the griping about iPhone 3G reception."
iPhone iRony?
appleWhen the iPhone v.1 came out last year, Apple got a lot of flack for going Edge instead of 3G. Steve Jobs said in a public forum that the 3G chip took up too much power. There was also talk about the 3G chip being a really large chip almost doubling the size of the phone if it was in there.

Shame on You, Apple - Leave Psystar Alone
appleApple finally went for the Psystar Jugular as they not only filed a major lawsuit, but also want "All Open Computers Sold" recalled. Therefore if you bought a Psystar with the OSX 10.5 software on it, you would have to return it to Psystar. Good luck in getting a refund.
Apple Blows it with new iPhone Activation
appleSeems the in store activation has blown up in AT&T face. Believe me this in store activation fiasco was a result of AT&T getting hammered in the first iPhone release when people like me put T-Mobile sims in the phone after unlocking them ourselves. Glitch
I will not be getting a new iPhone!
appleMy wife hinted at the fact that she would like a iPhone. This encouraged me to consider getting two new iPhone’s on July 11th. But that conversation has quickly faded when we saw the plan pricing.
The iPhone 2.0 Deal Killer
appleWell like everyone else I wanted to see what Steve Jobs had to say about the new iPhone. Like everyone else I am pretty excited to see them bring 3G to the phone. What I am not excited about is the AT&T exclusive.
