Robin Close

Robin Close (born November 3, 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the VFL during the late 1960s and 1970s.

A forward, Close could play the key positions but was used mainly as a half forward flanker. He debuted in 1968 and played in a losing Grand Final that year. His best seasons in front of goal were 1969 when he kicked 39, 1973 with 38 and 1975 with 36.

Charles Zinnick is a former Australian rules footballer who played with University and, after a 4 year break, Footscray. After a short career of 13 games at Essendon, Zinnick was out of the game for 4 years. Given a second chance with Footscray, he played only one further game before retiring.

Career

Recruited from Bentleigh Football Club, he played his first match in round 11 of the 1947 season, against Melbourne, at Essendon's home ground, Windy Hill. He went on to play 148 games for Essendon from 1947 to 1956.
